All New: Cybex Callisto G 360 Select

Big news from Cybex! The brand has launched a new version of their best-selling rotating convertible car seat: the Callisto G 360 Select. This new model keeps the same trusted safety and easy 360° rotation as the original Callisto G 360 but in a more simplified package. By scaling back a few of the premium extras, the Select still delivers the core features families rely on while offering a streamlined option at a lower price point.

That means you now have two strong choices in the Callisto lineup: the fully loaded original G 360 and the new Select model for families who want the essentials without the extras. Let’s take a closer look at what sets them apart.

We love the  Cybex Callisto G 360 for its excellent safety features, 360° rotation, easy installation, and premium fabrics. It also grows with your child from infancy through the booster stage, transitioning smoothly from rear-facing to forward-facing to booster mode.

The new Callisto Select keeps all of these standout qualities and looks almost identical, but with a few key differences. It does not include some of the comfort upgrades found on the original G 360, such as breathable fabrics, a sun canopy, magnetic buckle holders, or the flip-forward buckle pad. The biggest difference is the absence of SensorSafe technology, a smart chest clip that connects to your smartphone through Bluetooth. SensorSafe sends real-time alerts if your child unbuckles the harness, if the car’s temperature becomes unsafe, if the driver leaves the vehicle while the child is still buckled, or as a reminder not to leave your child in the seat for too long.

If these added comfort and tech features are not essential for you, the Callisto Select provides the same trusted safety and ease of use at a slightly lower cost. Parents who want the full set of premium features and comfort may prefer the original Callisto G 360 for only about $100 more.

Is the Callisto Select Right for You?

The Cybex Callisto G 360 Select offers the same safety and core features as the original Callisto G 360, but without some of the premium extras. Here’s who it works best for, and where it may fall short.

Note: The Select model has the same specs (weight, dimensions, usage, etc.) as the original Callisto.

A Great Match If:

  • You want to skip the extras you won’t use. If you do not need the canopy or SensorSafe, the Select provides the core features at a lower price.
  • You love rotating convenience. The seat swivels for easy rear- or forward-facing installation, making it much easier to buckle your child in and out.
  • You want advanced safety features. The Select still includes Cybex’s top-tier technology such as side-impact protection and energy-absorbing materials.
  • You have a tall child. The Select accommodates taller kids with extended harness and headrest heights.
  • You have non-removable headrests. The design works well even in vehicles where the headrests cannot be removed.

Keep in Mind:

  • Not ideal for three across. At 19.5″ wide, it is too bulky for most three-across setups, and even if you manage to fit it, you will not be able to use the swivel feature.
  • Compact cars have tradeoffs. Rear-facing works fine in small vehicles, but in booster mode the headrest may hit the ceiling or door frame, limiting adjustability and comfort.

The Perks of a Rotating Car Seat

Rotating car seats take the hassle out of daily routines and save your back in the process. Instead of twisting and stretching to buckle your child, you can simply swivel the seat toward you and secure them with ease. This makes a big difference with infants and toddlers who often need extra support and patience when getting in and out of the car.

They are also a lifesaver when you are juggling multiple kids. In vehicles with a third row, you can turn the seat forward-facing so older children can pass by without climbing over, or take advantage of your car’s tilt feature while the seat is in forward-facing mode. Once everyone is settled in the back, rotate the seat back to rear-facing and you are good to go.

Another bonus: swiveling seats make it easier to grab dropped toys, wipe up spills, or adjust straps on the fly. For busy families, it is one small feature that makes every ride simpler, smoother, and a little less stressful.

The original Callisto G 360 is the fully loaded option, offering premium extras that many parents find useful. Features like the extendable canopy and SensorSafe technology are designed to make everyday life more convenient and give you extra peace of mind. If those upgrades appeal to you, the original Callisto is an easy pick, especially since it only costs a little more.

The Callisto Select is a great choice if you prefer a simpler seat. If you already have window shades, know you will not use SensorSafe, or your child is not a fan of the canopy, the Select gives you the same trusted safety and comfort without paying for features you will not use. Keep in mind that the Select comes only in black and gray, while the original Callisto offers more color options.

Both seats deliver the same strong safety performance and long-term comfort. It really comes down to whether you want the extra features or a more streamlined version.

Choose the Callisto G 360 if:

  • You want all the premium extras that make daily life easier

  • You like the idea of real-time safety alerts with SensorSafe

  • You want built-in sun protection with the included UPF 50+ canopy

  • You value extra comfort features like ventilation, magnetic buckle holders, and the flip-forward buckle pad

  • You like having more fabric color options to choose from

Choose the Callisto Select if:

  • You are confident you will not use SensorSafe or the canopy

  • You already have car window shades and do not need extra sun protection

  • You prefer a simpler seat at a slightly lower cost

  • You are fine with limited fabric choices (black or gray only)

Bottom line: Both seats deliver the same trusted Cybex safety and long-term use, but for only a fraction more, the original Callisto gives you all the premium upgrades. For most families, that extra value makes it the best choice.
