Are you starting a new adventure with three young children? If so, you’ll need a stroller that makes your life easier! While these aren’t traditional “triple strollers,” they are convertible or double strollers designed to accommodate an older sibling on a rider board attached to the back. These strollers will not work for triplets.
Read on to see how these “triple” strollers from UPPAbaby, Bugaboo, Cybex, Silver Cross, and Bumbleride compare!
Please note these are not strollers for triplets or true triple strollers.
What are the best strollers for three children?
Who would need a stroller for three children?
These strollers are ideal for families with three (or more) young children—specifically, kids under six years old. Many parents of twins plus one often use double strollers with a ride-along board. For instance, if you have a two-year-old and newborn twins, a double stroller is essential, but your oldest child may tire easily on longer outings. You’ll want a spot for them. Enter the ride-along-board! The same works for toddler twins with a newborn sibling or three children each spaced two-ish years apart. There are many benefits to having a stroller that can handle three young children!
All of the strollers on our list can be used from birth in some capacity. However, only four of them are newborn-ready straight out of the box. The Bugaboo Donkey5, Bugaboo Kangaroo, and Silver Cross Wave 3 come with a bassinet. A bassinet is the preferred way for a newborn to ride in the stroller. You can add a second bassinet to these strollers if you are having newborn twins. The Bumbleride Indie Twin does not come with a bassinet, but the stroller offers a fully flat recline and carriage mode, making it perfect for newborn strolling!
The other strollers on our list require an infant car seat, bassinet, carrycot, or newborn insert, which must be purchased separately, to be used from birth. These stroller seats are only safe for use once infants have developed full neck control and can sit up unsupported.
Which “triple” stroller can be used as a travel system?
All the strollers on our list can be paired with an infant car seat (or two!) for travel system use. The UPPAbaby Vista V3 stands out as the only one that doesn’t require infant car seat adapters when used alongside an UPPAbaby infant car seat. However, you will need adapters when the Vista V3 is configured in double (or triple) mode.
The Cybex Gazelle S 2 and e-Gazelle S comes with a set of infant car seat adapters that work with Cybex infant car seats as well as a few other top brands, saving parents from additional costs for this essential accessory. They also offer additional adapters for purchase for other brand car seats. The Bugaboo Kangaroo also comes with a set of car seat adapters that works with Bugaboo infant car seats as well as other top brands. The Bumbleride Indie Twin, Silver Cross Wave 3, Bugaboo Donkey5, and UPPAbaby Vista V3 all offer car seat adapters, but they are sold separately.

Every one of these double strollers that can add a third child on a ride-along-board offer all-wheel suspension, making them capable of handling rougher terrain and uneven sidewalks with ease.
However, there are three standout options: the Bugaboo Donkey5, Bumbleride Indie Twin, and Cybex e-Gazelle S. Due to it’s side by side configuration, large tires, and advanced suspension system, the Bugaboo Donkey5 glides like butter over uneven terrain, and feels like you’re pushing nothing even when fully loaded with three children. You can easily push and steer it one handed! The Bumbleride Indie Twin features the same side by side configuration, however, it has air-filled tires, which make it super easy to maneuver and push over rough roads. It can even be used for light jogging! The Cybex e-Gazelle S features an electric assist making it a breeze to push up hills, or over uneven terrain!
What “triple” stroller offers the best features?
These double (+one) strollers share many features that enhance their ease of use, functionality, and comfort. However, there are a few standout features that might help parents make their final decision.
All of the strollers except the Bumbleride Indie Twin feature reversible stroller seats, allowing riders to face you or the world. This is perfect for outings when your baby is still really young, and the world may be a bit overwhelming for them, or when they’re older and they want to talk to you while strolling. These modular designs are also beneficial when paired with an infant car seat, as the stroller seat can be removed and the car seat attaches to adapters on the stroller chassis. This results in less weight to carry, as the stroller seat is left behind. In contrast, the Bumbleride Indie Twin seats only face forward and are designed to have infant car seat(s) or bassinet(s) connect on top to face you. The seat fabrics can be removed, but it is a bit of a process.
As previously mentioned, the Bugaboo Donkey5, Bugaboo Kangaroo, and Silver Cross Wave 3 all come with a bassinet. This is a huge positive as it’s the safest way for an infant to ride in the stroller.
Unique to the Silver Cross Wave 3 is the fact that the main seat, bassinet, AND tandem seat (the lower second seat) always comes with the purchase of the stroller. If this is your first baby, you’ll have everything you need as your family grows and never have to worry about purchasing the additional seat later on!
The Cybex e-Gazelle S is the only stroller of the bunch that features an e-powered uphill and surface support designed to give your baby and their siblings a smooth ride! This is incredibly helpful when the stroller is loaded down with three children. It also has a rocking feature to help soothe your baby when stopped.
The UPPAbaby Vista V3, Cybex Gazelle S 2, e-Gazelle S, and Silver Cross Wave 3 cater to parents seeking ultimate ease of use. The Cybex Gazelle S 2 and e-Gazelle S both feature a one-pull harness that’s similar to a car seat harness, offering quick and easy adjustments. The UPPAbaby Vista V3 and Silver Cross Wave 3 both feature a magnetic self guided harness that automatically locks into place!
The UPPAbaby Vista V3 features an all-weather seat. On warmer days, the seat fabric can come off to reveal a mesh backing to allow airflow and keep baby cooler!
Is eco-friendly important to you? The Bumbleride Indie Twin is the most eco-friendly double stroller on the planet! It features non-toxic OEKO-TEX certified fabrics free from PFAS, fire retardants, PVC, BPA, phthalates, polyurethane foam, chlorine, vinyl, and formaldehyde. It also has a natural and nontoxic cork handle, making it both eco-friendly and safe for your family. Plus 50% of the plastic frame components are sourced from recycled fishing net!

Comparing “triple” stroller features:
What is the lightest and most compact “triple” stroller?
Full-size double strollers are heavy and large. There’s no getting around that. They have to be larger and sturdier to accommodate two (possibly three) children, and thus they weigh more. However, these premium stroller companies do a really great job making sure they feel light, move easily, and aren’t overly cumbersome. I think most people are surprised when they learn the true weight of the stroller because of how light they push and feel. For those needing to prioritize lighter weight and compact size, I’d consider the
UPPAbaby Vista V3 as it weighs the least in double mode. However, if you don’t need a third child option, I’d look at travel double strollers like the
Nuna TRVL dubl or
Silver Cross Jet Double.

What is the best “triple” stroller?
Each of these double strollers that can also hold a third child are unique with their own standout features. For example, the Bugaboo Donkey5 expands sideways, which helps it push effortlessly while the e-Gazelle S electrically assists on uphill or rougher terrain. There’s a “triple” stroller out there for every family – the hard part is deciding which one!
